Our congratulations to Ann and Mike Murray of West Park for being the first to respond to last month's "Where in the Valley is Reed Sparling" contest. They recognized Reed as being at Emeline Park (Rockland County).

Gazing at the Hudson River from Emeline Park in Haverstraw, Rockland County, you could be forgiven for thinking you were on the shore of a lake. That’s because the river reaches its widest point in Haverstraw Bay, spanning nearly 3.5 miles across. In addition to enjoying spectacular views -- reason enough for visiting this small gem, named after a ship that once docked here -- the park also contains a playground, gazebo and a place to launch kayaks.
